Completou o bacharelato em turismo no ISLA em 1981 e a licenciatura bietápica em turismo na ESHTE em 2005 com a monografia «Azulejaria Holandesa dos séculos XVII e XVIII nos Palácios e Igrejas de Portugal Continental». Obteve o grau de mestre em história moderna e da expansão pela UNL-FSCH em 2013 com a dissertação «A primeira viagem neerlandesa à Ásia, 1595-1597: Objectivos e interacções com os Portugueses». É guia-intérprete e correio de turismo no activo desde 1981. Colaborou de 1998 a 2013 na EHTL-Turismo de Portugal, como formadora em inglês técnico, Gastronomia e Cultura e História de Portugal. Fundou a sua própria empresa, Legiblecity Unipessoal, Lda., dedicada a visitas temáticas em 2008. Obteve a certificação de formadora de técnica profissional para guias-intérpretes pela WFTGA no Chipre, em 2017, e é representante desta organização para os países da CPLP. Exerceu funções como presidente da direcção da AGIC desde Julho de 2013 a Julho de 2021 e é presidente da comissão científica do Congresso Nacional de Informação Turística-CNIT desde 2015. Tem assento no Conselho Geral da ESHTE.

Cristina Leal obtained a degree in Tourism in 1981, having presented the dissertation « Dutch 17th and 18th century tiles in the churches and palaces of mainland Portugal». In 2013 she obtained a MA in History of the Portuguese Expansion with the dissertation «The first Dutch voyage to Asia, 1595-1597: aims and interactions with the Portuguese». She is a national tourist guide and an international tour manager since 1981 to the present. Between 1998 and 2013 she taught English, Portuguese History and Gastronomy and Culture in the Lisbon School for Tourism and the Hotel Industry, managed by the national Tourism Board. In 2008 she founded her own company dedicated to the Portuguese culture and thematic visits Legiblecity Unipessoal Lda. She is since 2017 a national trainer for tourist guides accredited by the World Federation of Tourist Guides Associations-WFTGA and CPLP area representative for the same organization. She was the chairwoman of the Portuguese Association of Tourist Guides and Tour Managers – AGIC Portugal from 2013 to 2021 and is since 2015 president of the scientific board of CNIT- Congresso Nacional de Informação Turística (National Convention for Tourism Information).
Cristina Leal behaalde in 1981 een diploma in Toerisme met het proefschrift «Nederlandse 17e en 18e-eeuwse tegels in de kerken en paleizen van het vasteland van Portugal». In 2013 behaalde ze een MA Geschiedenis van de Portugese Expansie met het proefschrift «De eerste Nederlandse reis naar Azië, 1595-1597: doelen en interacties met de Portugezen». Ze is nationale gids en internationale tourmanager sinds 1981 tot heden. Tussen 1998 en 2013 doceerde ze Engels, Portugese geschiedenis en gastronomie en cultuur aan de Lissabon School voor Toerisme en Hotelindustrie-EHTL, beheerd door het Nationale Bureau voor Toerisme. In 2008 richtte ze haar eigen bedrijf op, Legiblecity Unipessoal Lda, dat zich toelegt op de Portugese cultuur en thematische bezoeken. Ze is sinds 2017 nationale trainer voor gidsen geaccrediteerd door de World Federation of Tourist Guides Associations-WFTGA en CPLP-gebiedsvertegenwoordiger voor dezelfde organisatie. Ze was de voorzitter van de Portugese Vereniging van Gidsen en Tourmanagers – AGIC Portugal van 2013 tot 2021 en is sinds 2015 voorzitter van de wetenschappelijke raad van CNIT-Congresso Nacional de Informação Turística (Nationale Congress voor Toeristische Informatie). Zij is lid van de Linschoten Vereeniging, Nederland.
